 KATHY KENNEDY - VOCALS

Born in Calgary, Alberta and raised primarily on the Manitoba prairies, Canadian Kathy Kennedy is a professional vocalist for over two decades.  Her soulful powerhouse vocals and strong stage presence confidently display her  experience.

She has appeared on several radio and television shows including, CBC with Wab Kinew and Bev Watson, CKUW, KICK FM, UMFM, CTV, and BREAKFAST TELEVISION.

Kathy has sung blues for the past 15 years. She was turned onto blues at The King Eddie Hotel in Calgary upon listening to an unnamed American blues singer. It was a pivital point in her musical interest as a singer.

She is not only a singer/songwriter, she is the Creator, founder and promoter of Women in Blues Manitoba and the manager and booking agent of her band. She is a contributor to  the "Save the Windsor" campaign which was founded upon the rumored demolition of Winnipeg's Home of the Blues, The Windsor Hotel as she believes it is important to support blues rooms still standing.

Some  noteable venues, festivals and fundraisers she has performed at and frequented include: the Great Woods Festival in Beausejour, Altona Sunflower Festival, Canada's largest festival The Ottawa Blues Festival, the Back 40 in Morden, Exchange District, Downtown Biz, Manitoba Homecoming in Prawda, The Windsor Hotel, Le Garage, The Royal George, Reaching Equality Employment Services fundraiser, Lupus Society of Manitoba fundraisers and an Ottawa Rape Crisis Fundraiser.

Kathy has opened for the timeless Maria Muldaur (Midnight at the Oasis) and Canada's Sue Medley. She has shared the same stage as Ottawa's Blues Fame Drew Nelson.

Quotes

Karen Kane - Music Producer/Recording Engineer

(Big Daddy G, Tracy Chapman)

"Kathy Kennedy has extraordinary song writing and singing talent."

Miche Pouliot - drummer extraordinaire

(Natalie MacMaster, KD Lang, Jann Arden, Bruce Cockburn, Colin Linden, Sue Foley)

"I enjoyed every show I did with Kathy. Her love of the music, and her genuine respect for the craft came forth in every note she sang. And then of course, there’s her power-house voice...brace yourself for one of Canada’s best kept secrets."

~~~
Drew Nelson  - Ottawa Blues Legend
(Dutchie Mason, Sue Foley)
"Kathy Kennedy’s voice can be soft, sultry and hushed, but when she wants to belt it out you should hope that the building is well constructed. We’ve had to record her ten feet away from the microphone to avoid too much distortion. Kathy is a highly dedicated and talented artist and I hope she gets the recognition she so rightly deserves. She has a rich, beautiful voice, is a sweet person and a pleasure to work with."
